Summer Reading Program a Huge Success

We had a very busy summer here at the library.  A great big thanks go out to the kids and their adults that supported them and helped to get them here for the programs. The Summer Reading kids met the reading challenge of 1,000 books (they read 1,826) so the adults got the water from the fire truck.  But as usual, everybody ended up wet with lots of fun and laughs! We had many visitors and "heroes" here throughout the summer.  Jessica Haig  showed us her "sharpshooting" equipment and medals, The Storycrafters wove some wonderful tales, Officer Ortlieb and K-9 Wyman came for a vist as well as the Turin Ambulance and Search and Rescue and the Turin Firemen with their truck.  Moreland the Magician dazzeled 65 people with his magic and comedy, and Jim McCarthy and his family played some great  children's songs about reading!  Courtney D'Ambrosi and Izabelle Liendecker won the Teen Readers Jeopardy Game, but it was a very close match, right down to the final jeopardy question.  Thanks to Stewarts and Walmart for donating some excellent gift cards for the kids to win. Last but not least, Courtney D'Ambrosi won our drawing for Teen Readers.  She won the $35.00 gift card from Walmart for reading the most books!
