Digeridoo Down Under!

Didgeridoo Down Under is coming to the Turin Library on Wed. July 17th at 6:30.  Learn about Australia and it’s music, animals and culture through humor, music, and audience participation! Raihan discovered the didgeridoo in 2005, and has been a Didgeridoo Down Under performer, traveling around the world since 2008.

 

Summer Reading Program Starts!

1st Summer Reading Day is coming up on Wednesday, July10th from 4-5:00.  Stories, crafts, challenge, and wonderful summer ideas! It's all about space, space travel and aliens, etc. Great things for kids and teens! Watch for our annual Outdoor Movie Night, Kids Jeopardy, make your own claymation movie, Communal Alien Designs, and lots more!

Catskill Puppet Theater Returns to the Firehall on Friday, July 12 at 7:00

The Catskill Puppet Theater will be presenting Sister Rain and Brother Sun on Friday, July 12th at 7:00 at the Turin firehall.  The giant rod puppets won't fit in the library (The sun is 7 feet wide!) so we have it at the firehall and ice cream floats will be available after the show!  Great for people of all ages, join us!

Bake Sale at the moe.down

Bake sale at the moe.down!  Baked goods can be dropped at Dig N Push by 9:00 on Saturday, July 6th.  This is a big fund raiser for the Friends Group, so please bake!  (Support our wonderful programs..... )

Turin 4th of July Parade Returns!

Just a reminder that we will be having the Turin 4th of July Parade again this year.  It starts at 11:00 and ends at South Lewis School.  Anyone (or entity) that would like to participate, or help us out, please notify Josh Leviker or the library so we can sign you up.  The more the merrier, (and we certainly had a lot of "merry" last year! )  AND....Weather permitting, we will convene to the park after the parade for some old fashioned games and fun!   Chicken halves will be for sale starting at noon and all proceeds will benefit the Turin Fire Department.

Hungrytown folk duo on Friday, June 7th at 7:00

Hungrytown (folk duo from Vermont) will be returning to the Turin Library on Friday, June 7th at 7:00. Join us for a free evening of wonderful music and fun with these award winning, world traveling performers.  We had them last year, and loved them so much, we had to have them again!

Lisa Nortz of Silver Bench Returns!

Join us on Thursday, May 9th at 6:00 to learn about jewelry making with Lisa Nortz.  We have loved her so much she is returning for a third year!  She will show us some tricks about silversmithing, and participants can make a charm to take home for just a $5.00 donation.  Lisa will also have her beautiful jewelry for sale as well.  Come young and old to learn a new skill, maybe make a Mother's Day present!

Turin Annual Garage Sale Day Slated for May 4th

Our annual Garage Sale Day is slated for May 4th from 8:30-3:00.  Join us at the library first thing for coffee, donuts, baked goods and to get your map of the local sales.  Then enjoy shopping around the surrounding area and come back to the firehall for the firemen's famous chicken barbecue dinner!  The library will be holding their giant book sale all day long.  If you are interested in baking for our bake sale, just bring the items to the library by 9:00.  Any help is greatly appreciated as the money raised goes to our Friends Group" and is necessary to continue our wonderful programmin

Pav's Presentation on Serbia!

Join us on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 for a great evening learning about the Serbian culture, customs, and history!  Pavle Jovanovic, (a South Lewis Serbian exchange student living here in Turin with the Liendecker family) will be here to answer questions and entertain us with Serbian facts.  He is a wonderful student with a great personality and sense of humor, it should be a very entertaining evening!
