Holiday Happenings at  the Library!

       Trim the Tree  -  November 30th at 4:30.   People of all ages are welcome to help decorate our tree!

       Soap Making Demonstration  -  Lori Kriwox will show us how to make beautiful handmade soaps!  December 7th 6-8:00

Pack Basket Class to be held November 18th

Barbara Green will be returning with another wonderful basket class on Saturday, November 18th from 9:00-5:00. Participants will be making a large, 18” high pack basket with a sewn handle and harness.  The total cost is $160.00, so if you are interested call the library at 315 348-6433 to sign up and get more details.  We only have room for 3 more weavers, so call soon! 

Living off the Grid with Solar, Wind and Water!

Edwin and Pam Falk of Greig, NY have been living sustainably with solar, wind and water power for over 40 years and will share their experience and knowledge of renewable systems that work. Join us on Thursday, September 28th at 7:00 for an evening exploring the utility of renewable electricity in the everyday life of living off the grid line.  We will learn about the past, present and future of independent home power.

 

Thirsty Painters was a Great Success!

We had a wonderful time at our Thirsty Painters painting party.  Thanks to all of the particiapants, and to Bree for her wonderful instructions. Thirsty Painters "Library Style" on Friday, August 25th at 6:00

Join us at the library on August 25th for a wonderful painting class with BreAnne Hale, from Thirsty Painters.  Both adults and older kids are invited to paint a beautiful moon through the trees picture.  We will have beverages and snacks, and lots of fun as Bree coaches us through our painting.  Contact the library if you want to sign up or if you have any questions.

Summer Readers Built a Better World!

The Summer Reading Program kids were VERY busy this summer! They built birdhouses, wigglebots, rubberband racers, solar ovens, had the Catskill Puppet Theater, Aline Newman and her "N Character Program, painted butterflies, enjoyed Bells & Motley on the Erie Canal, and got to play around with Dig "N Push Excavating Equipment!  (Not to mention they were very busy trying to read 2000 books together as a team....) They were just short of their goal, so the kids received pies in the face at our Party at the Park.

Bells and Motley Perform on July 27th at 6:00!

Join us for a wonderful participatory program about "15 miles on the Erie Canal".  Bells and Motley return with songs, instruments, jokes, and tales about live on the Erie Canal.  We will have free ice cream floats after this hilarious free program at the Turin Library.

Week Four of Summer Reading... "Kids Make Solar Ovens and Bells and Motley Perform!

Make a Solar Oven! Wednesday July 26th at 4:00. Yes, with a box and other supplies, kids will learn how to make a solar oven to take home, thermometer and all!  Join us on July 26th at 4:00 for this great program by Ed Falk.

Bells and Motley on the Erie Canal!  Thursday, July 27th, Bells and Motley will be at the library with their lively, funny, and silly participatory program of events and music on the Erie Canal. Try some instruments, sing some songs, and hear great stories!  Wonderful program for people of all ages.
